About Us

DST- Centre for Policy Research in Science Technology and Innovation at ADCPS, IIT-Bombay, was established in 2023. It is part of the efforts of the Government of India to strengthen the institutionalisation of policy research mechanisms in India.  The DST-CPR at IIT Bombay works with a special focus on data and digital governance. It works in consultation with concerned ministries in the western administrative zone of the country, i.e., Maharashtra, Goa, Gujarat, and Rajasthan, to conduct actionable evidence-based policy research.

The Centre works on policy and governance aspects of the Water, Sanitation, Gig Economy and Energy sector. The team at the Centre is working to study and devise a governance framework based on data and digital technology to enhance the capacity of government to improve efficiency, responsiveness, transparency, accountability, and citizen confidence in governance. The Centre works with the following objectives:

Make citizens and researchers aware of the governance process and their role, encouraging them to participate in governance activities.

Empowering the bureaucrats to make data-based decisions using digital databases and technologies

Identify opportunities to enhance digital governance to support the government.

We aim to make governance at various levels transparent and accountable by achieving the mentioned objectives while acknowledging milestones India has achieved in digital governance.

Along with research activities, DST-CPR organises Policy Talks and Dialogues, which receive participation from various stakeholders from various fields. Its goal is to ensure informed decision-making and effective policy implementation. Integrating theoretical knowledge with practitioners’ expertise is achieved to provide pragmatic policy recommendations.
